Information services

OneLink is the central access point for human services in the ACT, including homelessness, disability and family support services. You can call OneLink on 1800 176 468 or drop in to their office at Housing ACT, on the corner of Emu Bank and Benjamin Way, Belconnen (Google map).

Support services

Below are local homelessness support services who can help with food, clothing and more.

Blue Door provides breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday – located at Ainslie Village, 23 Quick Street, Campbell (Google map).

Ngunnawal Street Pantries provide food, clothing, baby care items, toys, and homeless care packs – located at 22 Bullala Ct, Ngunnawal (Google map).

Mission Heart provides lunch on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday – located in the Griffin Centre, 20 Genge Street, Canberra City (Google Map).

Red Cross Roadhouse provides dinner Saturday to Thursday and drop-in services Monday and Wednesday – located in the Griffin Centre, 20 Genge Street, Canberra City (Google map).

St John’s Care provides a range of support services including assistance with food, clothing and financial support. They also have a free hot lunch on the first Friday of each month, from 12pm to 1.30pm – located at St John’s Parish Centre, 45 Constitution Avenue, Reid (Google map).

Vinnies Street to Home is an outreach program supporting people who are sleeping rough in Canberra, focusing on both mental and physical health. St Vincent de Paul staff actively seek those sleeping rough and engage them to build a relationship based on understanding and respect. Click here to find out more.

Our local pantries provide healthy food and personal care items at considerably reduced prices, for individuals and families in Canberra who are experiencing hardship.

Northside

Communities@Work Community Pantry in Gungahlin is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm – located at the Gungahlin Community Centre, 47 Ernest Cavanagh St, Gungahlin (Google map).

The Mustard Seed Uniting Food Pantry in Gungahlin is open Thursdays from 11.00am to 1.00pm, then 6.00pm to 7.00pm – located at Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Centre, 108 The Valley Ave, Gungahlin (Google map).

Ngunnawal Street Pantries have food, clothing and homeless care packs – located at 22 Bullala Ct, Ngunnawal (Google map).

Helping Hand Food Pantry in Spence is open Thursday and Friday from 9.00am to 1.00pm – located at Mt. Roger’s Community Centre, Curley St, Spence (Google map).

HandUp Food Care in Charnwood is open Tuesday to Friday from 10.00am to 12noon, then 1.00pm to 4.00pm – located at Canberra City Care, 20 Cartwright St, Charnwood (Google map).

FoodHut Co-op in Belconnen is open Tuesdays from 4.00pm to 5.15pm, then 5.45pm to 6.15pm, and Thursdays from 2.30pm to 4.15pm – located at NationsHeart Christian Community, 27 Rae St, Belconnen (Google map).

Holy Cross Tuckerbox in Hackett is open Saturdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm – located at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 202 Antill St, Hackett (Google map).

Community Services #1 Food Pantry in Narrabundah is open for walk-ins on Mondays and Fridays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, or by appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00am to 4.00pm – located at Community Services #1, 63 Boolimba Cres, Narrabundah (Google map).

Lyons Food Corner in Lyons is open Mondays from 1.30pm to 2.30pm- located at Lyons Church Of Christ, 2 Marrawah St, Lyons (Google map).

Lanyon Food Hub in Conder is open Thursdays from 9.30am to 2.00pm – located at Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre, 22 Sidney Nolan St, Conder (Google map).

Lanyon Pantry in Gordon is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00am to 1.00pm, then 2.00pm to 4.00pm – located at Gordon Community Centre, 110 Lewis Luxton Ave, Gordon (Google map).

Food Fair in Queanbeyan is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 5.00pm – located at Anglicare, 170 Crawford St, Queanbeyan (Google map).

Temporary accommodation

Argyle Housing provides temporary accommodation over winter for men experiencing homelessness, through Ainslie Lodge. Referrals are required. Click here to find out more.
