The Early Morning Centre is hosting a morning tea for guests and supporters for International Women’s Day on Thursday, 11 March.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world each year on 8 March however, as the Canberra Day public holiday falls on the same day, we will be celebrating on 11 March.
As a focal point in the movement for women’s rights, IWD highlights the struggle for equality for women everywhere. The annual awareness day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.
A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.
We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.
